Celebrate Christmas with an unforgettable classical concert filled with famous melodies, Baroque masterpieces and beloved Christmas songs.
Classical Christmas brings together the renowned Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands, Dutch pianist Jan Vayne and outstanding vocal soloists for a festive concert in beautiful venues across the Netherlands.
From Vivaldi to Silent Night, from classical masterpieces to familiar Christmas music: this is a warm and accessible concert for anyone looking for a special Christmas experience in the Netherlands.
Vivaldi, Christmas classics and Jan Vayne
The first part of the concert celebrates the brilliance of Antonio Vivaldi.
Hear music from two of his best-known works: the festive Gloria in D and “Winter” from The Four Seasons. Vivaldi’s energetic rhythms, expressive melodies and colourful writing make his music perfectly suited to the Christmas season.
The programme then moves into a different atmosphere with well-known Christmas favourites such as Silent Night, God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen, Ave Maria and O Holy Night, alongside popular Christmas songs.
At the centre of the concert is pianist Jan Vayne, one of the Netherlands’ best-known improvising pianists. Vayne is famous for moving freely between classical music and other musical styles. His spontaneous piano improvisations give every concert its own character.
The Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands
The music is performed by the renowned Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands.
The orchestra specialises in historical performance practice and plays Baroque music on authentic period instruments. Their distinctive sound gives Vivaldi’s music clarity, energy and warmth.
Together with the expressive voices of The Bach Choir of the Netherlands, the soloists and Jan Vayne, the ensemble creates a Christmas concert that combines musical quality with a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
